Astro Slide 5G has now gone official. The upcoming device is an attempt to revive the physical QWERTY smartphone market and is the world’s first 5G device to feature a full keypad.
According to a PocketLint report, It’s the first QWERTY phone with 5G built from Planet Computers with MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor under the hood. The full sized QWERTY keyboard sits underneath the display and slides across the base.
When you want to use it, you simply slide the display upwards in landscape mode, and the display then folds up and is held at an angle by a bespoke hinge system.The device itself resembles a tiny laptop.
Astro Slide 5G world’s first 5G handset with a full QWERTY keypad sports a 6.39 inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The device will be charged via a USB Type C port and also support Qi standard wireless charging up to 10W as well.
The phone is expected to launch around June 2021 with Android 11 and will be priced approx. 699 US Dollars.
