WhatsApp is Currently Working on Edit Text Message

You may soon be able to edit texts on WhatsApp

WhatsApp has been extremely slow to introduce important features to its app, one of which is the Edit feature. According to a recent claim, WhatsApp may soon allow users to edit their messages. Furthermore, according to the source, the chat application may introduce support for Skin tones in message reactions.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has begun testing the ability for users to alter text messages that have already been delivered. It would display alongside the existing ‘Info’ and ‘Copy’ buttons that appear when you long-press a text message in the app’s overflow menu.

WABetaInfo also provided a few pictures to demonstrate how the edit option will work. Users can alter the text by selecting Edit from the pop-up menu after long-pressing the text message. It’s unclear if the recipient will be able to tell if the message has been edited.

Furthermore, users may not be able to view a message’s modification history in order to compare earlier versions. This functionality is expected to be available on the app’s Android, iOS, and desktop editions. Previously, in 2016 and 2017, the exact same option was tested several times. WhatsApp, on the other hand, discontinued it at the time and instead introduced the ‘Delete for Everyone’ function.

According to a separate story, WhatsApp is testing support for varied skin tones for message reactions, a function it just made public. It has already been given out to certain users via WhatsApp for Android beta version, according to WABetaInfo.

The skin tone of the reaction emojis will change automatically based on the user’s last used skin tone in the main emojis list if this option is selected. The Thumbs Up and Folded Hands emojis appear to be the only ones with different skin tones at the moment.
