Qualcomm just announced Snapdragon 720G and Xiaomi will be among the first brands globally to launch a smartphone with this processor.
This new chipset is the successor to the Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform and the is the latest 4G LTE chipset from Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 720G brings new features such as WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and support for 90Hz and 120Hz displays.
The Snapdragon 720G is an 8nm chipset with more powerful cores. The smaller node size will translate to an improvement in performance and efficiency.
CEO of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, posted a tweet revealing that Xiaomi will be one of the first brands to launch the latest Snapdragon processors from Qualcomm. He then listed the Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 765G, and the Snapdragon 720G, thus confirming that there will be a Xiaomi (or Redmi) phone powered by the new Snapdragon 720G processor.
Xiaomi’s Manu Jain, stated that it sees “demand for high-performance chipsets that support intensive usage and gaming is continuously increasing. Moreover, consumers are increasingly demanding seamless connectivity solutions.” And that Xiaomi is going to be continuing its long-running collaboration with Qualcomm.
