WhatsApp introduces new “Keep in Chat” feature to save messages

WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, has introduced a new feature called “Keep in Chat”. This feature allows users to save important messages they want to refer to later, even after the Disappearing Messages timer has expired.

With Disappearing Messages, conversations disappear after a certain amount of time, adding an extra layer of privacy and protection to the messages. However, sometimes users want to keep a specific message or key piece of information for later reference. The new “Keep in Chat” feature allows users to do just that.

The sender of a message will now be notified when someone chooses to keep a message, and the sender will have the ability to veto the decision. This ensures that the sender has the final say on whether their message can be saved or not. If the sender decides that the message can’t be kept, the decision is final and the message will be deleted when the timer expires.

Saved messages will be noted with a bookmark icon, and users can see all their saved messages organized by chat in the “Kept Messages” folder.

“We believe that if you’ve sent the message, it’s your choice whether others in the chat can keep it for later,” said a spokesperson for WhatsApp. “We hope people enjoy this new update and the flexibility to keep the messages they need.”

The new feature will be rolling out globally over the next few weeks, so users should keep an eye out for the update. With “Keep in Chat”, WhatsApp users now have even more control over their messages and privacy.
