Qualcomm, an American-based processor and telecom equipment manufacturing company has recently shared its Q1 earnings report for 2024. According to that report, Qualcomm earns $2.77 billion in net income and $9.92 billion in revenues.

Along with the earnings report, Cristiano Amon (CEO of Qualcomm) has also revealed that Apple and Qualcomm have extended their licensing deal for 5G modems until the end of March 2027.

In our QTL business, we’re pleased to share that we recently extended several key license agreements. First, Apple exercised its unilateral option to extend its global patent license agreement for an additional 2 years, taking the existing agreement through to March 2027.

This development comes later, when both Apple and Qualcomm formerly arrived at an extension covering Qualcomm’s 5G modems on Apple devices until the end of 2027. Apple was struggling to develop their own 5G modems after that they purchased 5G modems from Intel in 2019.

As mentioned above, Apple was unable to make a 5G modem, and then, after some time, they dropped out of this 5G modem manufacturing project. According to Qualcomm’s 10-Q report, Apple will develop and use its own 5G modems.
