Google just released the first official public build of Android 11 for pixel series and it’s packed with many intriguing features.Android is a open source software, designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices.
Android being an open source,led to the designing of Android OS skin by many manufactures and developers.One such manufacturer,OnePlus just revealed their first Android 11 beta update(Developer Preview) for OnePlus 8 and Oneplus 8Pro.
Oneplus published a blog post on their forum titled “Android 11 Beta (Developer Preview) for OnePlus 8 Series”.But,the page was soon taken offline for unknown reasons.Now,the page is online on the forum.
Android 11 features:
- Better user privacy protections.
- Advanced app permissions.
- Speech balloon Bubbles.
- Bubbles API.
- New Pixel Launcher.
- Pinhole.
- Waterfall screens support.
- Camera native image decoder and new camera features.
- Up pointing backhand index Biometrics.
- Support for 5G and Foldable phones.
Android 11 Beta (Developer Preview) for OnePlus 8 Series will get the following new features:
- Oxygen OS 11
- Android 11
- June 2020 security patch level
- Android 11 goodies and features
This is the first Android 11 developer preview build,So there are a bunch of known issues.
Known issues:
- All data will be cleared while flashing the build
- Face unlock is unavailable
- Google Assistant (“OK Google”) does not work
- Video calling does not work
- Certain UI screens look less than desirable
- Some apps may not function as expected
- System stability issues
Please note:
- These instructions are only for the OnePlus 8 series. Please make sure the battery level is above 30% and a minimum 3GB of storage space is available.
- The OnePlus 8 series carrier devices (TMO/VZW) aren’t compatible with the Developer Preview builds.
- There is a risk of BRICKING your phone,Please always backup your important data before flashing.
Stable official version and Open Beta version to Developer Preview version upgrade guide—via Local OTA Update
This upgrade method will erase all the contents of the phone, please be sure to backup first.
1. Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.
2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
3. Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top right icon -> Local upgrade -> Click on the corresponding installation package -> Upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
5. Update successful.
Developer Preview version to Stable official version rollback guide – via Local OTA update
This upgrade method will erase all the contents of the phone, please be sure to backup first.
