EU App Developers Can Now Test iOS Apps with Other Stores

Published

Apple has introduced Labs so that developers can test iOS apps and marketplaces in response to the EU’s Digital Market Act (DMA). This will allow developers who have agreed to Apple’s terms to use new features in the App Store Connect as well as the App Store Connect API to set up their applications. To beta-test all the new features, Developers can use TestFlight.

As we know, the European Union instructs Apple to open iOS to alternative app stores. On the other hand, how Cupertino is implementing it has caused many people in the industry to voice concerns about how Apple is executing the DMA (Digital Marketing Act). Remarkably, CEOs of big companies such as Spotify, and Epic along with the President of Xbox are criticizing Apple’s execution of the DMA (Digital Market Act).

These new changes will come into effect by next month i.e. March 2024. Next Month, the EC will also review Apple’s methods, along with the feasibility of more demands for the opening of competition.

Note: These new changes will only be applicable in European countries. So, don’t expect these features in India or any other region.
