With the Pixel 6 series, Google’s Pixel smartphones began to include the company’s own Tensor chipsets. With the Pixel 7 series, Tensor’s second-generation processor will be available. Samsung will be the exclusive manufacturer of Google’s chips. This year’s Google I/O event saw the introduction of the Pixel 7 series. Google used Samsung to make the chipsets for the Pixel 6 series as well.

Google Tensor Second Gen will be manufactured on a 4nm process

According to ddaily, a Korean publication, the Tensor’s second-generation chip will be manufactured on a 4nm process. The Pixel 6 series’ chip is manufactured using a 5nm technology. The second-generation Google Tensor SoC will reportedly be manufactured by Samsung using panel-level package (PLP) technology.

Chips cut up from a wafer are placed on a rectangular panel using this method, which helps to reduce costs and increase productivity. The Samsung Exynos 5300 modem could be used in the second-generation Tensor, although the business hasn’t provided any specifics about it yet.

The Pixel 7 series will be the first smartphone to ship with Android 13 out of the box, making it the first smartphone in the world to do so. Android 13 is now in beta, and other firms will only begin a steady deployment if Google completes its work on the Android OS.

During the Google I/O 2022 event, the firm showcased the looks of the Pixel 7 series. The smartphone resembles the Pixel 6 series in appearance. It’s worth noting that, despite being powered by Tensor, Google’s Pixel 6 series performed poorly in benchmark tests.

In practically every category, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 outperformed the Tensor, including gaming, battery life, and CPU speed. It’ll be interesting to see how Google Tensor second-generation performs.
