OnePlus has confirmed that they will bring an Always-on Display option to their future OxygenOS build.Earlier this month, OnePlus announced a new initiative called IDEAS which will allow OnePlus users to submit their suggestions for new software features.

Oneplus revealed on their twitter handle that the top idea from Oneplus fans so far has been Always-on Display option. This feature is the most requested one from Oneplus users since the release of the OnePlus 6T.

Oneplus is likely to bring this option as part of an OxygenOS Open Beta update before coming to a stable release in future. The company confirmed that initial Always-on display tests on Oneplus 7 Pro reduced the battery life by two hours on average.

On the IDEAS initiative many users have posted ideas but it was Kar7hik post on the OnePlus Ideas portal which got the most likes.OnePlus Gary C. confirmed in response to the post that an Always-on Display option has been tested internally and has been added to a future Oxygen OS roadmap.

OnePlus says it is currently working on a “test applied to the power consumption of the AOD in a device with a higher refresh rate display.” OnePlus wants to ensure that battery life does not get hurt and AOD is perfectly optimized before being rolled out to users.

Though it is not confirmed that which OnePlus phones will receive Always on Display option or when it will start rolling out to users.
