Samsung has announced UFS 4.0 storage, which promises Better Performance and Power efficiency
While the storage capacity of a smartphone is one of its most essential selling elements, the type of storage is sometimes disregarded. UFS (Universal Flash Storage) is used by most Android smartphones (and many other electrical devices), and most flagships now have either 3.0 or 3.1 UFS storage.
Samsung announced UFS 4.0 on Tuesday, which leverages Samsung’s Gen 7 V-NAND memory and proprietary controller to deliver sequential read and write speeds of up to 4,200 MB/s and 2,800 MB/s, respectively. In comparison to the previous generation, the new storage technology will boost sequential read speeds by 46 percent in terms of power efficiency.

UFS 4.0 offers up to 23.2Gbps per lane, which is double the speed of UFS 3.1. Samsung claims that this amount of bandwidth is “ideal for 5G devices that require massive quantities of data processing,” and that the technology will be used in virtual reality, augmented reality, and automotive applications.
Because the new storage technology can support up to 1TB of storage, we expect to see more smartphones with 512GB and 1TB capacities in the near future.
