Samsung’s Galaxy Watch4 Series now has Google Assistant

The Galaxy Watch4 was released nine months ago in August of 2021, and because it runs on Google’s Wear OS, it was supposed to include Google Assistant. It wasn’t, however. Now, Samsung has confirmed that the Google Assistant will be available on the Galaxy Watch4 series.

Samsung announced today that Galaxy Watch4 users will be able to download Google Assistant on their devices starting today, as promised nine months ago at the Google I/O event this year. Users will gain access to faster, more natural voice interactions, quick answers to questions, and on-the-go help. The Galaxy Watch4 had only one assistant pre-installed until recently, and that was Samsung’s own Bixby.

While Bixby does a good job with everyday instructions, people want a more natural conversational experience, which the Google Assistant provides because of its excellent smartphone compatibility. However, it appears that Indian customers will have to wait a bit before getting their hands on Google Assistant.

Because Google Assistant support for the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic is only available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, this is the case. India is not on the list, as can be seen, and we expect Samsung to address this issue shortly.

After downloading Google Assistant from the Play Store, go to your watch’s default app settings and set Google Assistant as your default voice assistant to avoid having to deal with Bixby for your daily tasks. “With access to both Bixby and Google Assistant, consumers will have access to more advanced voice assistant functionality right from their wrists”, Samsung claims.
