In a thrilling culmination of events at the Skyesports Masters 2023, Gods Reign emerged as the undisputed champions in the arena of Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CS:GO). Starting with 8 teams, the tournament had tough matches, and in the end, Gods Reign showed they were the best in the game.

This victory over Revenant Esports didn’t just earn Gods Reign the prestigious title, but also a substantial cash prize of INR 44,25,000 and the coveted championship trophy. While Revenant Esports clinched the second position, the podium’s third and fourth places were occupied by Marcos Gaming and 7Sea Esports, respectively.

Highlights from Gods Reign’s Championship Run:

The competition structure, with its single-elimination format, ensured that teams had just one shot to progress to the Grand Finals. Gods Reign made their intentions clear with a dominant 2-0 semi-final win over Marcos Gaming. Contrarily, Revenant Esports had to dig deep, rallying from a map down against 7Sea Esports to secure their place in the finals.

The Grand Finale Breakdown:

Map 1 – Anubis: Selected by Revenant Esports. Though they started strong with a 4-1 lead, Gods Reign, after a pivotal timeout, recalibrated and swung the momentum in their favor. Despite Revenant’s earlier prowess on this map, Gods Reign’s strategic counters prevailed, ending the game at 16-11 in their favor.

Map 2 – Ancient: This was Gods Reign’s territory, and they made it evident with an initial 3-0 lead. Though Revenant Esports did manage to narrow the gap to 8-11, Gods Reign’s relentless onslaught ensured a 16-8 win, sealing the deal with a 2-0 series triumph.

The Skyesports Masters 2023 CS:GO stands as a significant milestone, especially with the announcement of Counter Strike 2 on the horizon. The event may have marked the end of an era, making Gods Reign potentially the last Indian team to claim a major CS:GO esports trophy in the country.
