Google Rolls Out Android 14 Beta 1.1 Update for Pixel Devices

On April 26, 2023, Google started rolling out the latest update for Pixel devices, Android 14 Beta 1.1. This comes just two weeks after the release of Android 14 beta 1 on April 12, 2023. This is a minor update, with a size of 7.67MB, for users who have already installed Android 14 beta 1 on their devices.

Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a devices that use Verizon as their carrier will have the build number UPB1.230309.014.A1, while all other devices will have the build number UPB1.230309.014. The security patch update for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a devices that use Verizon as their carrier is for March 2023, while all other devices will have the update for April 2023.

The Android 14 Beta 1.1 update includes several fixes for issues that were present in the previous version, such as the system UI crashing when trying to access the Wallpaper & Style screen through the Settings app or by long-pressing from the home screen, fingerprint unlock issues and an issue where the status bar did not display the mobile network. It also fixes an issue where a SIM card or eSIM was not detected or activated in some cases, and an issue where the lock screen displayed a message with an unresolved string placeholder when Smart Lock was enabled.

Android 14 Beta 1.1 OTA update will be rolled out for only who signed up for beta program for their pixel devices. This update will bring improvements and fixes to the devices, ensuring a better user experience.

This minor update to Android 14 Beta 1 includes the following fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the system UI crashed when trying to access the Wallpaper & Style screen either through the Settings app, or by long-pressing from the home screen. (Issue #277938424)
  • Fixed some issues that prevented fingerprint unlock from being used. (Issue #272403537)
  • Fixed an issue where the status bar did not display the mobile network. (Issue #277892134)
  • Fixed an issue that prevented a SIM card or eSIM from being detected or activated in some cases. (Issue #278026119)
  • Fixed an issue where the lock screen displayed a message with an unresolved string placeholder when Smart Lock was enabled. (Issue #278011057)
