How to Get OnePlus Full Screen Gestures on OnePlus 5/5T Post OxygenOS 10 Update.

OnePlus recently rolled out an Android 10 update for Oneplus 5 and Oneplus 5T.In the latest update, Oneplus introduced features like Game Space and also brought back a revised gesture mechanism.

OnePlus 5/5T Full Screen Gestures

After the OxygenOS 10 update, the OnePlus 5 and Oneplus 5T no longer have OnePlus full-screen gestures.XDA Senior Member Pierre02 has found a way to restore the full-screen gestures on both the OnePlus 5 and Oneplus 5T devices.

OnePlus implementation of full-screen gestures is still inside the new firmware but it’s hidden from regular settings. If we enable the hidden preference, we can use the gestures again. Root access is not mandatory to enable the gestures.

In order to Get OnePlus Full-Screen Gestures on OnePlus 5/5T Post OxygenOS 10 Update, we need to install an app that allows us to alter the values in Android’s Settings Database. One such app that can be used is SetEdit.

After installing the app, navigate to the “System Table” and search for the variable named op_gesture_button_side_enabled. This is a Boolean flag, thus setting its value to 0 instantly bring back the old full-screen gestures. In case you need to restore the new implementation, just set the value as 1.

OnePlus style full-screen gestures:

  • Back: Swipe up from the bottom left/right side
  • Home: Swipe up from the bottom (center)
  • Recent apps: Swipe up and hold from the bottom (center)

Google did introduce its own full-screen gestures in Android 10 and even made them mandatory in Android 10 but OEMs are still allowed to offer their own gestures. We hope that OnePlus will add a simple toggle in their OxygenOS skin in the future to give end-users the freedom to switch between different gesture styles.
