No More Marisilicon in OPPO Smartphones – Company is going to discontinue Custom Chip Unit

Android Authority has confirmed that OPPO will discontinue the Marisilicon custom chip. Marisilicon is a custom chip designed by OPPO. It was announced on INNO Day 2021. The First device with the Marisilicon X chip was OPPO Find X5 Series which was launched in 2022. Marisilicon X is a 6 nm NPU-based chip that improves the pictures and videos quality. It also delivers more powerful noise reduction. This Chip allows capturing HDR video at 20 bits per channel, which translates to a 120 dB dynamic range. After this OPPO announced Marisilicon Y Chip for the Bluetooth Audio Devices.

Why Marisilicon is going to be discontinued?

Due to the uncertainties in the global economy and the smartphone industry, OPPO has to make difficult adjustments for long-term development. Therefore, the company has decided to cease the operation of ZEKU.

Other than the reason given above, there is no other reason given by OPPO to shut down the Custom Chip Unit. The company does not have any valid reason to shut down the production of Marisilicon. The company is not failed to achieve the purpose of the Marisilicon. As the devices with this chip can be able to record video in 4K Quality. It also improves noise reduction with AI and the Quality of the pictures.

What Happens to the Existing Devices which Have Custom Marisilicon Chips?

As said by the Company, The existing Smartphones in OPPO’s Reno and Find series which have the custom Marisilicon X chip will remain the same. All the functionality like Picture Quality, Noise Reduction with AI, and recording the video 4K will work the same. For sure we are not getting But we get the Marisilicon X with OPPO Reno 10 PRO + 5G and OPPO Find X6 Pro. The Marisilicon Chip supports improved 4K HDR video and real-time viewfinder previews. The news comes that another brand from BBK Electronics Vivo is coming with a custom chip. Also, Google and Xiaomi also come with their custom chip.
