WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.23.11.19 Introduces Screen Sharing and Updated Navigation Bar

WhatsApp is continuing its efforts to enhance voice and video calling features in its Android application. Following the recent update that introduced color changes for missed calls in WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.23.10.4, the company is now rolling out an exciting new feature that allows users to easily share their screens during video calls. This feature is currently available to select beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.11.19 update from the Google Play Store.

WhatsApp Screen Sharing Feature

The highlight of this update is the introduction of screen sharing. With a new icon added to the call control view, users can now initiate screen sharing during a video call. By tapping on the icon, a prompt will appear, inviting the user to share their screen. Once initiated, everything visible on the user’s screen will be recorded and transmitted to the call recipient. However, it’s important to note that this feature may not be available on older versions of Android. Additionally, screen sharing may not work in large group calls, and recipients may be unable to view the shared screen content if they are using outdated versions of WhatsApp.

Users have complete control over the screen sharing feature. At any time during the video call, they can choose to stop the screen sharing process. Furthermore, this feature is only enabled with the user’s explicit consent, ensuring privacy and control over their shared content.

In addition to screen sharing, the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.11.19 update brings some minor changes to the bottom navigation bar. Some users may notice that the tabs within the navigation bar have been rearranged. The new order, observed by some users, includes the following sequence: Chats, Calls, Communities, and Status.

It is worth mentioning that screen sharing and the updated navigation bar placement are currently available to select beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update from the Google Play Store. However, these features will gradually roll out to more users over the coming weeks.

WhatsApp remains committed to improving its Android app’s functionality, providing users with new and convenient features for their messaging and calling experiences.
