Apple iOS 17.3 Developer Beta – Here are the new changes and features

Recently, Apple released the iOS 17.3 Developer Beta. We have installed 17.3 Developer Beta on our iPhone. So, before we move on to the changes to the update, let’s talk about the size of the update first. The update size is about 6.08 GB.

Let’s move on to the changes of iOS 17.3 Beta.
Changes after iOS 17.3 Beta
Stolen Device Protection: The first change that we see after the update is Stolen Device Protection. You need to add a Face ID on your iPhone to use this feature. This is a very useful feature. There is no need to worry if your phone is stolen. If this feature is enabled, then your phone is safe. If someone even knows your passcode. Also, he/she won’t be able to change your Apple ID password instantly. There will be a security delay of 1 hour. You won’t get a delay while changing passwords if the iPhone is in familiar places, such as home and work. Also, to access the saved passwords, you need a Face ID.

Note: This feature is also available in iPhones having Touch ID. But you should be on the iOS 17.3 Developer Beta.
Emoji Reactions to Songs: The second add-on that you get after this 17.3 update is now, you can react with emoji to songs.
Collaborative Apple Music Playlists: The third add-on is Collaborative Apple Music Playlists. After you create a playlist in Apple Music, now you will be able to collaborate with your friends after inviting them. You both can add Songs to that playlist.

Journal App: New settings also come with the new iOS 17.3 Beta Update in the Journal App which was introduced in iOS 17.2.
Lockdown Mode: This option is for those whose phone is targeted by attacks such as Cyber Attacks. So, those users can use this Lockdown Mode. In this mode, some features are restricted to prevent their data from being stolen. After this 17.3 update, you also won’t be able to use Game Center.
Two more changes that I have noticed after the update are instead of coverage, now in the About Section, it shows Limited Warranty along with the expiry date of the warranty.

The second one is the Modem Firmware Version. Before the update, it was 3.20.02 and now after the update, it is 3.20.04.

Rather than these, we won’t see any new change. If you know, then do let us know in the comment box.
Google Maps Ask Maps Feature: 5 Powerful Gemini AI Upgrades That Transform Navigation

Google Maps Ask Maps Feature
Google Maps Ask Maps feature is a new AI-powered capability introduced by Google that allows users to ask conversational questions directly within the Maps app. Powered by Google’s Gemini AI, this feature transforms the navigation app into a smarter travel assistant capable of understanding complex queries and providing personalized recommendations.
Traditionally, Google Maps required users to search using simple keywords like “restaurants near me” or “gas station nearby.” With the Ask Maps feature, users can now ask detailed questions such as finding quiet cafés with charging points, planning a scenic road trip, or discovering less crowded places to visit. The system analyzes Maps data, including reviews, photos, and location insights, to deliver accurate and contextual results.

How Gemini AI Improves Google Maps
The integration of Gemini AI enables Google Maps to process natural language queries more effectively. Instead of multiple searches, users can ask complex questions in one go and receive detailed responses tailored to their needs. This conversational experience makes exploring new places easier and more intuitive.
For example, a traveler can ask Maps to suggest a route with scenic stops or find restaurants that match specific preferences. Gemini evaluates various factors such as location data, ratings, and user preferences to generate personalized suggestions. Over time, the system can adapt to user behavior and deliver more relevant recommendations.
Immersive Navigation Enhances the Driving Experience
Alongside Ask Maps, Google has also introduced Immersive Navigation, a visual upgrade designed to improve driving guidance. This feature provides detailed 3D visuals of roads, terrain, buildings, and landmarks, making it easier for drivers to understand complex intersections and route changes.

The navigation interface can highlight important elements like lanes, crosswalks, traffic signals, and nearby landmarks. These enhancements aim to provide better situational awareness and reduce confusion during navigation.
Availability and Future Expansion
Google has begun rolling out the Ask Maps feature on Android and iOS devices in the United States and India, with plans to expand to additional regions and desktop platforms in the future.
This update represents one of the most significant upgrades to Google Maps in years, positioning the platform as an intelligent travel companion rather than just a navigation tool. By combining AI-driven recommendations with immersive navigation, Google aims to simplify how people discover places, plan trips, and move around cities.

AltStore PAL Joins the Fediverse: A New Era for Decentralized App Discovery on iOS

AltStore PAL Fediverse integration signals a major shift in how apps are discovered and shared across decentralized social platforms. The alternative iOS app marketplace has officially joined the Fediverse, allowing developers to promote their apps and updates through decentralized social networks rather than relying solely on traditional app store discovery.
Developed by the team behind AltStore, AltStore PAL is an alternative marketplace that enables developers to distribute apps outside the ecosystem of Apple’s official App Store. With its latest move, the platform is embracing the decentralized web by launching its own server on the Mastodon network, which is part of the broader Fediverse.

What the Fediverse Integration Means
By joining the Fediverse, AltStore PAL introduces a new way for developers to communicate with users. App updates, announcements, and releases posted on AltStore PAL’s Mastodon server can automatically reach audiences across other federated platforms that support the ActivityPub protocol. This includes various decentralized social networks that connect within the Fediverse ecosystem.
The change allows developers to bypass traditional marketing channels and directly interact with communities that follow decentralized platforms. Users who follow the AltStore PAL account on Mastodon or compatible networks will receive updates whenever new apps or updates become available in the marketplace.

A Step Toward Decentralized App Discovery
This integration effectively turns AltStore PAL into what many consider the first federated app marketplace. Instead of relying entirely on algorithm-driven discovery systems used by centralized app stores, developers can share updates organically across connected social networks.
The approach also aligns with the growing movement toward open and decentralized internet platforms. By combining app distribution with federated social networks, AltStore PAL is experimenting with a new model where app discovery becomes community-driven rather than platform-controlled.
For developers and users interested in alternative app ecosystems, this move could reshape how independent apps gain visibility on iOS devices. As decentralized technologies continue to expand, integrations like this may become a key part of the future digital landscape.

Meta Anti-Scam Tools: Meta Launches AI Security Features for Facebook, WhatsApp and Messenger

Meta Anti-Scam Tools Introduced to Strengthen User Security
Meta anti-scam tools are the company’s latest effort to combat the rising number of online scams targeting users across its platforms. The technology giant has announced a new set of AI-driven security features designed to detect fraudulent behavior, prevent account takeovers, and improve user safety on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
With online fraud becoming more sophisticated, Meta is leveraging advanced artificial intelligence systems to identify suspicious patterns and warn users before they fall victim to scams. The company stated that these tools are part of a broader strategy to create a safer digital environment across its social platforms.
AI Technology to Detect and Prevent Scams
The newly introduced anti-scam technology relies heavily on machine learning models capable of analyzing user interactions, messaging patterns, and suspicious account behavior. These systems can automatically flag activities that resemble common scam tactics such as impersonation attempts or fraudulent investment offers.
Meta’s AI systems are designed to identify red flags in real time. When suspicious activity is detected, users may receive alerts encouraging them to verify the identity of the person contacting them or reconsider sharing sensitive information.
The company is also enhancing its account protection measures. For example, WhatsApp users will receive warnings if someone attempts to link their account to a new device in a suspicious manner. This feature is intended to prevent attackers from hijacking accounts through device linking.
Stronger Protection Across Facebook and Messenger
Facebook and Messenger are also receiving additional safeguards. Meta is introducing warning notifications for potentially suspicious friend requests, especially those that resemble known scam patterns. These alerts aim to help users make informed decisions before engaging with unfamiliar accounts.
Messenger’s safety tools are also being strengthened with AI-based detection that can analyze conversations and identify potential scam scenarios. If the system detects risky interactions, it can provide safety reminders or encourage users to verify the legitimacy of the contact.
Collaboration With Industry and Law Enforcement
Alongside its technological improvements, Meta continues to work with global organizations and law enforcement agencies to tackle scam networks. The company reports that it has already removed hundreds of thousands of accounts connected to fraudulent activities as part of its ongoing enforcement efforts.
By combining AI-driven monitoring with global partnerships, Meta aims to reduce the spread of scams and provide stronger protection for billions of users worldwide.
