In an interaction with CNET, Oneplus CEO Pete Lau confirms that Oneplus 8 series will support 5G.
Oneplus has confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series phones will support 5G.In an exclusive interview with CNET, CEO Pete Lau stated “Going forward, we’re all in on 5G.” Lau also confirmed that the new technology will add some cost to each device. With 5G in OnePlus 8 series,there will be increase in the prices of each device.
Lau aslo stated “I want to restate our commitment to 5G and our long term investment. We’ve been investing in 5G for several years and we see this as the direction going forward, and one we’re very much committed to”.Adding to it Oneplus co-founder said” it’s an opportunity that OnePlus wants to capture” as with the rapid growth in 5G coverage that is being made at the moment.
“I want to restate our commitment to 5G and our long term investment,” he said. “We’ve been investing in 5G for several years and we see this as the direction going forward and one we’re very much committed to.”
Talking about the increase in price, Oneplus CEO said that there is going to be some cost added to each device compared to their current-generation equivalents. Lau reassured that there will be more expensive “Pro” version of the phone and a regular OnePlus 8 with more modest specifications and an accessible price tag.
The OnePlus co-founder had earlier said that OnePlus 8 series could potentially all be 5G devices.There are rumors of Oneplus 8 lite to be budget friendly and may have 5G support.
While Lau was firm that the upcoming launch will be 5G all the way, he didn’t confirm whether the company is ditching 4G phones altogether.
