WhatsApp is working on Preview of Links Shared as Text Status

Published

After the rumoured ability to react to Status with emoji reactions and Status updates in the chat list, WhatsApp is preparing a new upgrade to its Status feature. The alleged new feature would provide rich previews of links shared as text status updates. Here’s an example of how this will look.

Changes to WhatsApp Status are on the way

According to a recent claim by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on Rich Link Preview for text Statuses. This effectively implies that when users share a link as a WhatsApp Status, they will be able to get a preview of the link with more data, similar to how they can examine a link shared in chats.

Any link posted as a Status will currently appear as a link, with a preview appearing only when the link is pressed. Here’s a comparison of what you’re seeing now and what you might see in the near future.whatsapp status preview link

The screenshot appears to be of an iOS WhatsApp Status update, but it is likely to be available to Android and desktop users as well. You should be aware, though, that it is still in the works and will ultimately reach WhatsApp beta testers. It is unknown when it will be released to the general public. Also read, Message Reactions are now available to everyone on WhatsApp

As previously stated, WhatsApp is anticipated to add the option to respond to a Status update with emojis, similar to how Instagram recently added message reactions. The option to check Status updates in chat lists or when a person is searched is another feature that will be replicated from Instagram. A green ring will appear around a person’s DP to show this. A new Status can now only be viewed from its own area within the app.

Furthermore, the Meta-owned messaging application for Android, iOS, and desktop may soon offer additional search filter options. This functionality is already accessible to Business users, and it will soon be available to other users, allowing them to quickly find unread chats, contacts, non-contacts, and groups. This feature is also in the works, but there’s no news on when it will be available.

OpenAI acquires Torch in a strategic move that signals the company’s growing ambition in the healthcare technology space. The San Francisco-based AI leader confirmed the acquisition of Torch, a young healthtech startup, with plans to integrate its core technology into ChatGPT Health, a healthcare-focused solution designed for consumers and professionals. As part of the deal, the entire four-member Torch team will join OpenAI, further deepening its expertise in medical AI.

OpenAI Acquires Torch: What the Deal Means

The acquisition was officially announced on X, where OpenAI stated that combining Torch’s technology with ChatGPT Health would create “a new way to understand and manage your health.” Torch, founded in 2025, has not yet released a public product, but its core idea attracted significant attention across the tech industry.

According to Torch co-founder Ilya Abyzov, the startup was building a “unified medical memory for AI.” This system was designed to aggregate health data from hospitals, diagnostic labs, wearable devices, and consumer testing platforms into a single, structured memory layer. Such a framework could allow AI systems to understand long-term medical histories without losing context.

Why Torch Fits Into ChatGPT Health

While OpenAI has the technical resources to build similar tools internally, the reported price of over $100 million highlights how valuable Torch’s approach was considered. The deal’s financial details were revealed by Torch co-founder Adrian Aoun on LinkedIn. Industry analysts believe the acquisition accelerates OpenAI’s healthcare roadmap by fast-tracking data continuity and contextual accuracy—two major challenges in medical AI.

By integrating Torch’s technology, ChatGPT Health could better analyze large medical documents, track patient history across multiple uploads, and reduce errors caused by fragmented data. This would significantly improve the reliability of AI-assisted health insights.

OpenAI’s Expanding Healthcare Strategy

The acquisition aligns with OpenAI’s broader push into healthcare in early 2026. The company recently introduced ChatGPT for Healthcare, an enterprise-grade platform powered by GPT-5, offering tools and APIs for hospitals, doctors, and healthcare developers. It remains unclear whether Torch’s technology will also be embedded into this enterprise offering, but the possibility suggests deeper integrations ahead.

With OpenAI acquiring Torch, the company is clearly positioning ChatGPT Health as a more context-aware, data-rich healthcare assistant for the future.

Microsoft Lens Discontinued: 5 Powerful Reasons Microsoft Is Shifting Document Scanning to OneDrive

Microsoft Lens discontinued notification on smartphone showing OneDrive replacing document scanning feature

Microsoft Lens Discontinued by Microsoft marks the end of one of the most trusted document scanning apps on Android and iOS. As the company continues consolidating its services under the Microsoft 365 Copilot ecosystem, features once exclusive to Lens are now fully integrated into OneDrive, making the standalone app redundant.

Microsoft Lens is officially being retired, marking the end of one of Microsoft’s most popular document-scanning apps on Android and iOS. As Microsoft continues to streamline its ecosystem under the Microsoft 365 Copilot umbrella, the company is consolidating overlapping features into fewer, more powerful apps — and unfortunately, Lens didn’t cut.

According to Microsoft, the Microsoft Lens app will stop being supported on Android and iOS starting January 9, 2026. Users will be able to scan documents until March 9, 2026, after which new scans will no longer be possible. Existing scans will remain accessible as long as the app stays installed on the device.

Microsoft Lens Discontinued: Why Microsoft Is Shutting Down the App

The main reason behind this move is feature consolidation. Microsoft has already integrated document scanning into Microsoft OneDrive, eliminating the need for a separate scanning app. By focusing on OneDrive, Microsoft can deliver scanning, storage, editing, and sharing tools in one unified experience.

Despite Lens boasting an impressive 4.8-star rating, Microsoft believes OneDrive is better positioned to handle both productivity and security needs moving forward.

OneDrive’s Advantages Over Google Drive

Microsoft OneDrive has steadily evolved into a full-fledged productivity hub. It offers password-protected and expiry-based sharing links, a feature still missing from Google Drive. Users can also store sensitive documents in Personal Vault, which adds an extra layer of encryption and biometric protection.

When it comes to PDFs, OneDrive stands out with advanced editing tools such as page management, annotations, text insertion, and built-in document signing. Android users also benefit from biometric app locking, ensuring files remain private even if the device is shared.

What Lens Users Should Do Now

If you’ve relied on Microsoft Lens for scanning receipts, documents, or notes, now is the time to transition. OneDrive already offers similar — and in many cases superior — functionality, with better integration across Microsoft 365 and Windows devices.

As Microsoft continues to prioritize AI-powered productivity through Copilot, OneDrive is clearly positioned as the company’s all-in-one document and file management solution.
