A UK-based smartphone manufacturing company, Nothing is trying to launch Nothing Phone (2) in the Summer of 2023. As we know, the Phone (1) was the most hyped phone from Nothing that won different awards due to its transparent design in the back. Forbes, a tech website has taken an extensive interview with Carl Pei about the Phone (2) in which he talks about some more specifications like Battery capacity, display, and launch.

What Carl Pei said about different Smartphone Companies

In talking with Carl Pei, he said that the smartphone industry is the most challenging in the world. He also said he has noticed different smartphone companies failing, although the start-ups never launched a 2nd generation product. Pei said he saw many brands giving up in this industry such as LG, Amazon, HTC, and Sony (as in India). These are successful companies but they failed in making smartphones.

As we know, Pei Co-founded OnePlus with Pete Lau which is a Chinese smartphone manufacturing Company. In an extensive interview, Pei said “Apple is continuously gaining ground over Android. Also, there is not any exciting alternative to iPhones especially for the younger generation.” He also said that things were challenging at the start and that this year, the company has been able to significantly improve the components or suppliers it’s used.

What Carl Pei talk about Nothing and the US market

Carl Pei explains why he thinks he has a chance with Nothing. Pei said that “With Nothing, they want to bring a sense of excitement back to the smartphone industry. They want to make great products, that make feels special, different, and fun. As with the Phone (1), we successfully entered the smartphone market and proved that there was an appetite for such a new alternative, especially among younger users. The company has sold. The number of Nothing Phones sold is around 750,000 which is half the number of the first-gen iPhones sold. Carl regularly uses an iPhone.

Carl Pei clears that the US market is very important for a new phone. that’s why they mainly focused on the US and some specific regions like India. The US is the most dominant market for iPhones. With Phone (1) we have seen the inspirit results with the highest percentage of users who switched from iPhones to Nothing. In the US market, the users don’t have any alternative options. But Phone (2) can be a better alternative to the iPhone.

What Carl said about comparing Nothing with Apple

Pei talks about the reason to compare Nothing with Apple. He said that users switched from their iPhones to Nothing Phone (1). According to Nothing, it’s between three and four times the average across some markets. Pei also said about the online concept designs of Nothing Phone (2). Carl Pei also said that they had noticed the different concept designs that are inspired by the transparent products of Nothing. They observed that few established brands are also following the transparent design. This kind of enthusiasm was earlier done by Apple with their iPhone, cementing the image of Nothing as an iPhone competitor. As Carl confirmed the processor of Phone (2) in his recent Tweet. The Phone (2) comes with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 which we also got in the flagship devices. According to Carl, the 8+ Gen 1 is a proven processor. It has been tested thoroughly. 8+ Gen 1 is continuously optimized through numerous updates since its introduction a year ago. The main goal of Nothing is to provide a better user experience rather than the specifications. Also, the 8 Gen 2 is costly which isn’t always justified from the user benefit side. Nothing Phone (2) with 8+ Gen 1 delivers users a better experience if we compare it with Phone (1).

Also, Carl talks about some exclusive new details of the Phone (2). The first is about the battery, The Nothing Phone (2) comes with a 4700 mAh battery which was increased by 200 mAh from Phone (1). As we got a 4500 mAh battery in the Phone (1). 4700 mAh battery with an 8+ Gen 1 chip will give you an overall performance boost of 80% from the Nothing Phone (1).

The second exclusive thing is the launch date of Phone (2). As like Phone (1). The Phone (2) is going to launch in July 2023 in India and Globally. We are getting an In-Display Fingerprint sensor. With Phone (2) users can record video 4K @60 FPS. We also have RAW HDR. Also, the tipster has also confirmed that the Phone (2) comes with Stereo Speakers. We also get thinner bezels on Nothing Phone (2).
